Jessica Simpson: C-Section Recovery Is ‘No Joke’ 2 Weeks After Birth
A tough time. After welcoming her third child, Birdie, Jessica Simpson admitted that the two weeks since her daughter’s birth haven’t been easy.
“Recovering from a C-section is no joke!” the fashion designer, 38, captioned an Instagram upload of her daughter Maxwell, 6, and son Ace, 5, on Monday, April 1. “ I’m feeling thankful for these two older siblings looking over their new baby sister.”
The Dukes of Hazzard actress added: “I think we all get so carried away with the excitement of having a new baby that we forget that we are going in for major surgery. Then on top of that, we get home from the hospital, have to recover from the surgery, balance our new life as a parent to three kids and be a wife.”
Simpson and her husband, Eric Johnson, welcomed their second daughter, Birdie, on March 19.
“We are so happy and proud to announce the birth of our perfect daughter, Birdie Mae Johnson.,” the singer wrote on Instagram at the time. “3.19.19. 10 Pounds 13 Ounces.”
Simpson’s pregnancy journey was far from easy, and the Texas native took to Instagram to share her experiences with extremely swollen feet, acid reflux and multiple bronchitis hospitalizations. She even told her social media followers that she snapped a toilet seat lid off while leaning back too far.
“The one thing that gets me through this pregnancy is knowing I will get another one of these cuties,” she captioned a February Instagram shot of Maxwell and Ace hugging in their school uniforms.
Her younger sister, Ashlee Simpson, praised her sibling for her honesty that same month. “I’m so proud of her for being open,” the “Pieces of Me” singer, 34, told Us Weekly exclusively. “It’s not always easy, so I think being open about that is great. … She’s tough. We’re talking about Jessica.”
