Fine dust, from whence the strain in the apartments comes
Ultra-fine particles, for example by road transport and power plants can penetrate deep into the body. This so-called fine dust charged to the respiratory tract and the cardiovascular System. How much of this ultra fine air of dwellings dust in the Interior is, by contrast, especially of the activities of the inhabitants. This is reported by researchers of the Leibniz-Institute for tropospheric research in the journal "Aerosol and Air Quality Research".
Measurements in 40 non-Smoking homes showed that 90 percent of the particles in the interiors were ultra fine, i.e. smaller than 100 nm, and the activities of its inhabitants unmistakably reflected: Burning candles, cooking, baking and toasting let the amount rise significantly, and not just in the kitchen. Peak values were found to be the typical meal times at 8, 12 and 19 PM. In the summer, this effect was less pronounced, because more was revealed.
Prof. Alfred wiedensohler from the Leibnitz-Institute commented on the results: "The concentrations of ultrafine particles were associated with the activities of the inhabitants and showed significantly higher concentrations and greater variability than the particle concentrations in the Free. This indicates that human activities are the main cause for the concentration of ultrafine particles in indoor."
The burden from fine dust in homes does not allow, thus, the measurements describe. What are the effects of ultra fine dust on the health today, it’s not safe not to say, because reliable data on the dose-response relationship is yet available.
